The Secretary of State, Revolutionary War Military Papers, consist of papers and claims concerning military bounty land in the Military District (now in Tennessee). Veterans or their heirs who were denied a military land warrant were entitled to appeal to the General Assembly. These records consist of proofs of service, including depositions, powers of attorney, letters of guardianship, discharge papers, affidavits, and commissions.
