The State Archives of North Carolina houses records created by the various executive, legislative, and judicial branches of state government. The Archives also houses multiple records created by licensing boards and commissions.
Descriptions of the departments and the records held by the Archives are available in our online catalog. Guides providing more information are available both in our Legacy Finding Aid collection (for older agencies), and among finding aids on our website.
Reference staff members are unavailable to perform detailed research but can reproduce items or folders of material referenced in the above guides as long as the request can adequately direct staff members to the appropriate box or volumes.
Researchers who have questions about the feasibility of a search request or any questions about ordering state agency records should contact the Archives at archives@ncdcr.gov.
